Unique, handcrafted resin infused hardwood jewellery created be me in my workshop tucked away in the rolling hills of Kildare, Ireland.
I really love these pendants, to me they represent more than a beautiful piece of art. They’re made from very special pieces of wood that have come my way from different paths and represent lives lived, full of stories and journeys.
This particular necklace is made from a lovely piece of driftwood that came my way when walking along the sandy beech on Bull Island, in Dublin Bay, one windy evening in 2016. It is now 2018 and it has taken this long for the wood to naturally dry and season. I really had no idea how this wood might turn out but I had a good feeling about it and it has not disappointed. The wood is beautifully smooth to the touch and the resin captures the emerald sea that brought it ashore.
Like all of my pendants. the sequence of layers from pith are really beautiful on this wood and are enhanced by the staining effects of sea water. I have used an emerald green resin to form a rectangular shape that reaches out from the centre of the wood out towards the outer edge and into the emerald space that reminds me of the Irish sea that this wood spend time wandering through. How long was it wandering, where has it been and where did it come from we’ll never know but that it part of the charm of pieces like this.
This necklace would make a wonderful gift for anybody who appreciates the beauty of form, material and meaning. It has been entirely handcrafted, the wood has been treated to several applications of nourishing Danish Oil and the entire pendant has been polished to a high gloss finish with pure Beeswax and Carnauba wax. The pendant is supported by a sliver plated chain with a lobster clasp, you can choose the length of chain when ordering.
The necklace is delivered to you in a beautiful presentation box that is made from entirely recycled materials, perfect for gifting.
